Three Romanians who had been terrorising shopkeepers in Chania were finally arrested as they tried to break into a shop. The alarm went off and the police arrived before they could get away.
After their arrest it emerged that they were part of a five-person gang operating in Chania, which had managed to remove goods worth over 100,000 euros from shops over the past year.
The stolen goods were not recovered and police are looking into the possibility that they may have been sent to Romania.
