Bakery robbed in Plakias
We are used to hearing about burglaries in Cretan cities and news of one in Heraklion, Rethymnon or Chania would go unnoticed. This, however, is not true of quiet little villages like Plakias on the south coast of Rethymnon Province.
A bakery was targeted by thieves who broke in by the front door late at night and took 4,000 euros in cash from the till. They couldn’t find anything else of value, so on leaving they also stole the bakery’s delivery van. The owner discovered the break-in early next morning when he went to open the shop. The police station at Spili was informed and an investigation is now under way.
